Yes. Sri Lankan passport holders require a visa to enter the United Kingdom, including for short visits, tourism, and family visits. You must apply before you travel — you cannot get a visa on arrival. The Standard Visitor Visa is the most common and allows stays of up to 6 months.

Yes. If you are living in Canada on a PR card, work permit, study permit, or as a Canadian citizen, you can apply for a UK visa from Canada. The application is made online through the UKVI portal, and biometrics are submitted at a UK Visa Application Centre in Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, or Calgary). You do not need to apply from Sri Lanka.

Standard processing takes 3–8 weeks from the date of your biometrics appointment. UKVI aims to process most visitor visa applications within 3 weeks, but processing can take longer during busy periods. Priority processing (5 working days) is available for an additional fee of approximately £250. We advise applying well in advance of your travel date — ideally 8–12 weeks before.

Yes — attending the VAC in person is mandatory for almost all UK visa applicants. The VAC collects your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) and receives your passport and supporting documents. In Canada, VAC locations include Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. You book your appointment online after submitting your UKVI application. The appointment typically takes 30–60 minutes. We guide you through every step of this process.

The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) gives you access to NHS services during your stay in the UK. It is required for most visa types except the Standard Visitor Visa and short-term business visas. It is currently £1,035 per year per adult (£776 for students and children). It is paid online at the time of application and is separate from the visa application fee. We factor this into your full cost breakdown during consultation.

Yes — unlike some immigration systems, the UK does not require you to wait before reapplying after a refusal. However, reapplying without addressing the reasons for refusal is likely to result in another refusal. We read your refusal letter carefully, identify exactly what concerned the officer, and build a stronger application that addresses those concerns directly. A well-prepared reapplication has a significantly better chance of success.

Yes. UK Standard Visitor Visas can be issued as single or multiple entry, valid for 2 years, 5 years, or 10 years. A multiple-entry visa allows you to visit the UK as many times as you like within the validity period, with each stay limited to 6 months. Whether you are granted a long-validity multiple-entry visa depends on your travel history, financial profile, and ties to your country of residence.
