A procedural fairness letter (PFL) means IRCC has identified a concern with your application and is giving you the opportunity to respond before making a negative decision. We assess the concern raised, prepare a strong written response, and submit before the deadline. These letters are serious but a well-prepared response can absolutely change the outcome.

If your PR card is expired and you need to travel outside Canada, you cannot return to Canada using an expired PR card. You need to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) from the nearest Canadian Embassy or High Commission in the country you are travelling to. In certain situations, yes. IRCC has an urgent processing request process for situations involving humanitarian grounds, a medical emergency, travel for a funeral or family emergency, or other compelling circumstances. We assess whether your situation qualifies for an urgent processing request and submit one with the appropriate supporting documentation. We cannot guarantee that IRCC will grant the request, but a well-documented urgent request significantly improves the chances of expedited processing.

Contact us immediately. CBSA detention reviews must happen within 48 hours of detention, then again within 7 days, and then every 30 days. These reviews are your family member’s opportunity to argue for release. You need to know what is happening, where they are detained, and what grounds exist for release.
